ALPHA MINISTRY

The Alpha Ministries purpose is to focus on the fundamentals of Christianity and the Christian life at Oak Grove Baptist Restoration Ministries through provided classes.  Classes are taught to new members and those who want to rededicate and expound on their Christian walk.  Classes provided are: Salvation 101, Holy Living, Faith 303 and Gift Assessment 404.  Completion of these classes are prerequisite to membership, new converts and current members are welcomed to attend.  The Alpha ministry share the church’s vision, encourage engagement and familiarize students with what to expect as a full pledge member of the church.

 

ARMORBEARER

(Led by Minister Anthony “Tony” Carter/Bishop T. E Payne, Sr., Pastor)

 “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.” John 15:13

The purpose and mission of an Armorbearer is to provide service by edifying, assisting, and protecting the leader, the senior pastor of the church, and their spouse.  

 

AUDIO / VISUAL MINISTRY

(Led by Deacon Shawn Williams)                                                                                                                                                            

The Audio and Visual Ministries purpose and mission is to provide audio and visual services that support and enhance worship services and ministries of the services of the church.  To take the gospel of God outside the walls of the church through various technology and media outlets such as world wide web and social media, for the edification of the Jesus Christ.  The Audio/Visual ministry records all Sunday morning church services and special event services.  Our purpose is to provide quality sound and visual output for the praise team, musicians, preachers, music, display song lyrics, sermon notes and announcements on the church’s projector, monitor and assist with presentations and monitor the church’s on-line live stream.

 

BEAUTIFICATION MINISTRY

The purpose of the Beautification is to help beautify the church by planting, cleaning the outside grounds and to make the church beautified and welcoming.  The Beautification Ministry make concerning decisions about the interior decoration and beautification of the church. 

 

BENEVOLENT MINISTRY

 (Led by Minister Linda Lassiter)

“The Lord is good to all and his tender mercies are over all his works”  Psalm 145:9

The Benevolent Ministry’s purpose is to help those in an emergency financial need.  The Benevolent Ministry does not loan money; however, assists temporarily by giving a limited amount of money at a given time, when needed.  We educate on the necessities of budgeting and savings. 

 

BIBLE SCHOOL

(Led by Superintendent – Minister Elizabeth Carter)

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

The purpose of the Bible Church School is to teach the Word of God, so that we may rightly divide the Word of God and apply it to one’s lives, in order to help someone come to know God, through Jesus Christ.

 

BROTHERS UNITED IN CHRIST  (B.U.I.C.) MEN’S MINISTRY

(Led by Brother Jerry Wells)

Behold, How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Psalm 133:1

The purpose of the Brothers United in Christ Ministry is to promote growth, strength and love amongst the men at Oak Grove Baptist Church.  Our vision is not to limit ourselves to the confines of our church, but to develop a ministry with men who are incarcerated, disadvantaged and in need of brotherhood.  The Brothers United in Christ mission is to also incorporate the young men in the church and community, through mentorship programs.

 

*There are no requirements to joint BUIC.  Just come with a desire to fellowship and learn from the Lord and one another.  We do ask for a $5 monthly offering to support our activities. 

 

DEACON’S MINISTRY

(Led by Chairman – Deacon Roger Norrell/Assistant – Deacon Walter Thomas)

 “…Likewise, must the deacons be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.   And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.  Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.  For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus”  1 Timothy 3: 8-13

The mission and purpose of the Deacon Ministry is to assist the Pastor of the church in fulfilling the duties of pastoral care, while governing authority in the church.  The Deacon Ministry also helps those who are in need, visit the sick and shut-in and making sure that the church members are being taken care of when a problem arise.  The Deacon Ministry serves Communion and collect and count the up taking of offerings during service and take and deposit moneys, if people give financially to the church after church hours.  The Deacon Board Ministries at Oak Grove Bapt. Restoration Ministries strive to be the Deacons that God would have us to be, by edifying His name, the pastor, each other and the body of Christ, for His service.   With God’s guidance, the Deacon Ministries will be able to meet the needs of the church and make God’s house the place where weary souls can come to rest, be saved and where the Holy Spirit will have full reign.

 

DIRECTOR OF MINISTERIES (DOM) MINISTRY / DIRECTOR OF SPIRITUAL MINISTRIES (DSM)

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”  Ephesians 2:10

The purpose and mission of the Director(s) of Minister or Director(s) of Spiritual Ministries (DSM) is to support and help accomplish the vision and mission of the Pastor, to whom the Pastor appoints, so that the church will keep unity, order and move forward in Godly service. 

The Director(s) of Ministers or Director(s) of Spiritual Ministries purpose is to call and lead Minister’s meetings at the Pastor’s discretion, coordinate various roles for different special events or services, such as funerals, baptisms, the Word For Life Conference (WFLC) and dedications; assist in obtaining and leading trainings for the church body, assist with community service, schedule and minister to the ministry staff.  The Director(s) of Ministers or Director(s) of Spiritual Ministries purpose is to also schedules the weekly Sunday morning services, the yearly Minister’s preaching schedule and be vigilant, willing and ready to service, when unexpected situations or events occurs.

 

DRAMA TEAM

(Led by Minister Theodore “TJ” Payne, Jr./Deacon Carella Wallace)

“…A time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance…;”  Ecclesiastes 3:4

The purpose of the Drama Ministry is to use drama as a tool to portray the Gospel in a different light. To provide laughter and through a serious context of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

*Anyone who wants to join the Drama Ministry must first be a member of the church and must complete the required classes such as New Members Class, Salvation 101, Holy Living and Gift Assessments.  Those who want to join must have the ability to act out different characters and to act out different emotions such as being serious, funny, sad, angry, etc.  There will be try outs for different characters when a play is performed. The drama ministry also performs skits for different events or services, that take place in church during the year. 

 

FINANCE MINISTRY

The Finance Ministry assists the Board of Trustees Ministry in fulfilling its responsibilities with respect to reviewing and monitoring the spending for the church’s fund; in consistent with the foundation’s long-term goals and reviewing and monitoring the budget.  *See Trustee Ministry

 

FLOWER / SICK COMMITTEE

(Led by Lady Darnice Payne/Sister Gail Spears)

Pour out all your worries and stress upon Him and leave them there, for He always tenderly cares for you.  1 Peter 5:7 TPT

This Ministry was established for the purpose of touching the lives of active members of the Oak Grove Baptist Restoration Ministries when they are sick or hospitalized, by sending flower arrangements.  Our mission is to serve the sick and those hurting members of the church by giving flowers that would encourage them in their recovery process.  This ministry also places flowers in the sanctuary for special services.

Regulations: We send flowers to those that are admitted in the hospital overnight, the active members family that have passed away or to the immediate members of the family i.e. (Parents, children, grandchildren, grandparents, brothers, and sisters).  The individual or families, will receive flowers upon knowing of their situation.  If a patient is re-admitted into the hospital within a six-month period, they will not receive flowers, but a get-well card with a financial donation of $25.00.  It is suggested that all members of this ministry notify the church office immediately upon the knowledge of a death or illness. 

 

FOOD BANK MINISTRY

 “Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.”  Galatians 2:10

The purpose and mission of the Food Emergency Card is to provide emergency money on a money card, for food to those who need assistance due to job lost or have a change in family situation.

Purpose of the Food Bank Emergency Card Ministry is to provide monetary food card for members and nonmembers who need emergency assistance for food, due to loss of a job, change in family situation, etc.

 

HOSPITALITY / GREETERS

(Led by Sister Queen Johnson)

 “Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”  Ecclesiastes 3:4

The purpose of the Hospitality/Greeters Ministry is to set an atmosphere of a pleasant welcome.  As visitors and members enter into the sanctuary, the ministry’s mission is to expect God to move in their lives in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost.  As knowing that the first impression is a lasting impression, the ministry’s goal is to work in excellence so that visitor and members will feel free and welcomed and return to the House of Lord.

 

OAK GROVE EXPRESSIONS MIME MINISTRY

(Led by Minister Mark Payne)

 “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” Psalm 103:1

The purpose of the Oak Grove Expression Mime Ministry is to lead people to Christ with moment, dance and expression.  With a painted face, it helps the ones in the ministry, love their identity, leaving no names, just the ministry.  The songs we choose must tell a story of faith and the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We want to leave a movement of change in life, word and deeds through a God-led song, leaving people with the thought that the song was brought to life, in a spiritual and 3-dimensional way.

 

MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL MINISTRY

(Led by Minister Anthony “Tony” Carter)

 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”  Luke 4:18

The mission of the Minister’s Ministry is to unfold Scriptures, to preach the Word in and out of season and to declare or preach the mighty acts of God. To preside at the Lord’s table and lead His people in worship, offering with them a spiritual sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving.  The Minister’s Ministry are to be servants and devote his/her life to studying the Word, living the Word, preaching and teaching the Word; exhorting church members to be faithful to the Word and defending the Word.

*A minister of the Oak Grove Ministries must be: 1.  Consistent in their attendance for at least one year, demonstrating loyalty to the church and to the leadership.  (Hebrews 13:17, 2 Timothy 2:2); Have a New Birth Experience – (John 3:5, Romans 10: 9-10, Romans 6: 1-14, Acts 2:38-39, Ephesians 1:13 and Acts 2:1-4); Be a Tither – (2 Corinthians 9:6-7, Malachi 3:7-10); A Good Example to the church and in the community – (1 Timothy 4:12); Be willing to Serve – (Ecclesiastes 9:10, Colossians 3:17) and Mature – (1 Timothy 3:6, Titus 2:6-8).

 

MISSIONARY MINISTRY

(Led by Mother Missionary Bettie Harris)

“…And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”  Matthew 28:18-20

The purpose and mission of the Missionary Ministry is to minister to the lost and to the needy; to use God’s gifts to spread the Gospel of Jeusu Christ; to provide food, flowers and visitation, to the downtrodden and bereaved and [to] encourage family members with support and prayers. 

As Missionaries, our goal is to help our leadership present the Gospel of Jesus in a clear and precise way that will lead the lost to a personal relationship with Jesus. We are called to the lost and are willing to go outside of the church walls to reach those who needs a Savior.

 

MOTHER OF CHURCH MINISTRY

“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed…” Titus 2: 3-5

The Church Mother Ministry is a group of Senior Praying Women with a burden and a desire to encourage, be spiritual advisors and inspire younger women to live for and walk in the image of Christ. Through evangelism and prayer.

The Church Mother purpose/mission is to be a Titus 2 woman, who teaches women to be good homemakers and how to love their husbands and their children. The Church Mother mission is to have good organizational skills, using those skills to develop a strong, spirit-filled ministry to others.  The purpose of the Church Mother’s Ministry is to be women who are spirit-filled, sound minded, full of wisdom, respected and appreciated in their homes, churches, and communities; one who the pastor can trust to give guidance to the people; to be able to give Biblically sound advice and instructions to younger believers and congregation; Mothers of the Church ought to be 60 years old (three score years old); Be faithful in their church attendance and attend weekly Bible Study or Church School.

 

MUSIC MINISTRY

(Led by Minister TJ Payne)

The mission of the Music Ministry is to minister music that exhorts praise and encourages worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To edify the body of Christ while glorifying Christ under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and to evangelize the lost in submission to our pastor and our Heavenly Father in the spirit of excellence. 

The Oak Grove Music Ministry consists of various instrumentalists, the Praise and Worship team, Fire (Youth) Choir, Oak Grove Choir (OGC Recording Choir), Male Chorus and the Bishop’s Choir.

 

NURSERY

(Led by Sister Ivy Williams)

 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Mark 19:14

Nursery Mission Statement is to provide a peaceful, safe, warm, loving environment where children can have their needs met through ministry with educational Biblical teaching, play, song and care.  Our mission is to also bring the presence of God into the nursery by sharing the Word on ‘their’ level and impart the love of Jesus. 

 

POTS & PANS MINISTRY

(Led by Brother Jerry Wells)

Purpose of the Pots & Pans Ministry is to provide the church family with scrumptious physical food in an atmosphere that promotes valued Christian fellowship.

The age requirement for this ministry is 10 years old; Must be willing to serve others; be able to multitask; work well with others; follow directions and exemplify Christ while working sometimes in a fast pace and/or challenging atmosphere.

*In order to use the kitchen for events, one must contact the head of the Posts and Pan Ministry to fill out an informational form and return it to the church’s secretary.

 

PRAISE DANCE MINISTRY

(Led by Sister Logoldia Payne)

 “Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.” Psalm 149:3

 The purpose and mission of the Dance Ministry is to minister effectively to God’s people by presenting a visual image of God’s message through dance and movement; to create an atmosphere for the Holy Spirit to minister to all God’s people in praise and through worship.  Our mission is to prepare the hearts of the people for repentance, healing and restoration, in preparation to hear God’s Word.

 

TRUSTEE MINISTRY

(Led by Trustee Ronald Lassiter)

“And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord.”  1 Chronicles 23: 32

The Trustee Ministry mission and purpose is to address challenges, resolve conflicts and make sound decisions using Biblical principles that align with the church’s best interests.
to be familiarity with the laws, bylaws and regulations that impact the church’s operations, with a commitment to ensure compliance; as well as understanding of legal issues and legal requirements for operating the finances for the church and oversee any necessary permits, licenses or filings and various aspects of the church’s operations.

The Trustee Ministry’s mission/purpose is to review budgets, finances for staff and employment, oversee the building and grounds, prepare the necessary reports for the Church body; prepare policy and procedures for the financial administration of the church; prepare budgets and monitor amendments.  The Trustee ministry assist ministries with expenditure requests, for Church ministries and events; manage bank funds, accounts and investments; and deposit tithes and offerings and other funds contributed and/or donated to the Church for specific purposes.

The Trustee ministries purpose/mission is to have knowledge of basic financial principles, budgeting and financial reporting, in hope to provide a positive example of honesty, faith, integrity and commitment to the church’s spiritual growth.

 

USHER MINISTRY

“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”  Psalm 84: 10

“Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you. In order to bring praise to God.”  Romans 15:7

The Usher Ministry’s mission/purpose is to serve as the “Door Keepers” in the house of the Lord, to ensure that every person is greeted with a warm welcome and seated comfortably; to be alert to actions surrounding the church and the congregation and giving directions to the congregation in such emergencies, such as fire, sickness, etc; To bring the mood and appearance of cheerful and gladness for those who enter the House of worship; To also be the initial point of call for members and visitors coming into the church for the first time.

Our mission is to prayerfully promote an atmosphere where all those entering the church, will feel welcomed, to meet the needs of the congregation during service and to keep distractions to a minimum and to accommodate every Worshipper who enters the church with a seat in the most pleasant, comfortable and efficient manner possible.

 

YOUTH MINISTRY

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 2:3

The purpose of the Youth Ministry is to help lead, guide and equip the youth in all areas of their lives according to the Word of Christ.  The Youth Ministry teaches the Word of God in a way that youth can grow, understand and assists with recognizing their identity, their purpose and their destiny for living, with clarity through the Word of God in hope to lead others to Christ. 

Our mission is for the youth to feel loved, needed and accepted.  The age range for the Youth Ministry is from ages 10-18.  After the age 18, if choose to still be a part of this ministry, they are welcomed.  A member of the Youth Ministry does not have to be a member of Oak Grove Baptist Restoration Ministries; however, they have to attend or have a membership to a church in the community.
